Whether you’re on a budget or stuck for what to give this Christmas then food is always a hit. It makes a great present or stocking filler and people think you’ve made loads of effort, slaving away in the kitchen especially for them. Well worry no more because all you need is 15 minutes to make a delicious jar of chocolate granola that’s healthy and inexpensive to make.
The vital ingredients;
- 3 cups of rolled oats
- 1 cup of seeds, nuts and dried fruit
- 1/4 cup of natural sweetener (honey, agave, date syrup etc)
- 1/4 cup of coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1 large pinch of fine sea salt
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 3 heaped tablespoons of raw cacao or cocoa powder (optional)
Method to the madness;
Combine all the dry ingredients in a large bowl.
Melt the coconut oil and add all the wet ingredients to the mix.
Stir everything together until all the dry ingredients are coated in the sticky oil mix.
Cover a pan with a baking sheet and spread on the granola mix in a thin layer.
Bake at 180 degrees for 5-10 minutes or until the oats are lightly golden and crisp.
Cool and then crumble the mix into a jar for storing. (It will keep for 2 weeks… if it lasts that long)
And there you have it. A simple, homemade gift that everyone is bound to love and will think of you every time they have breakfast. I love the chocolate granola mix for healthy snacking too.
